Militants kill two Shiite pilgrims in Pakistan

Militants on Monday attacked a bus carrying Shiite pilgrims in Pakistan’s restive southwestern Balochistan province, killing at least two people.

The militants attacked the vehicle this morning near Chandni Chowk area of provincial capital Quetta when the travellers were on their way to Taftan town near Iran border and fled, an official said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned attack and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

He directed authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured.

Those killed belonged to ethnic Hazara Shiite community, the official said, adding, a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.

Balochistan has faced violence by sectarian groups who frequently target the Shiites, who travel to Iran to see their holy places.
